I really like this monitor, assembly issues aside. The contrast is excellent. The color/contrast controls are perfect. The monitor is definitely wide enough. The back light is even, except given certain conditions, when you push the brightness too high or low. However, despite my good experiences, I can not give it 5 stars, through the following details, which cause me not to 'love' it:
* Tends to be a bit short in height, with a display of only 768 pixels tall. I didn't know from the website that this was the case. I blame myself for not selecting what I wanted. What I found out is that a 19" regular aspect monitor seems much bigger than an 18.5" widescreen, but you can't do the side-by-side tricks that you can with the latter.
* There is no way to push it past the native resolution, to 1080p. So, I've gotten used to the lower screen size, which is barely tall enough to web browse. The medium-ish resolution makes it easy to read small text, but there is a lot of scrolling--more than normal. I just couldn't install all of my favorite browser toolbars, because I needed every bit of vertical space.
* Watching movies is good, but not superb. You kind of have to sit right in front of the monitor to see anything. But, it's widescreen, a plus.
* I have already considered getting a more upscale monitor, after 6 months of using this one, but I didn't want to waste this purchase. So I'm 'stuck' with it, until I can figure out who needs mine on the cheap.
In conclusion, I can definitely rely on the Samsung brand in the future and I'll get a more upscale model that has 5-star potential, from them, in the future.
